1st SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH EXPEDITION TO QUAIL CREEK, KIMBERLEY

In 1984 I co-led the first scientific expedition to explore the Quail Creek region of the Prince Regent River, deep in the Kimberley wilderness, travelling by four-wheel drive, small boat, and sea plane. We undertook botanical and entemological research for the Museums of Victoria and West Australia. We discovered a new species of grevillea, and many new species of insects. We also undertook aerial reconnaissance for the Royal Geographical Society's major Kimberley Project multidisciplinary expedition.
